Dumb Biz sends an update on dumb startups, business decisions and news every morning that will make you (hopefully) smarter every morning!

The age old question has been solved, where is the nearest hotel for my chickens? The answer to that question is the Hen Weekend in England!

I get it, this is a small business so we shouldn’t be rude but the owner is scheduled to go on Dragon’s Den to raise money, the UK’s version of Shark Tank. If you open the business for national coverage you also open it for rude newsletter coverage!

At just $3 a night per bird this business is bound to fail if it raises money. Yes, prices can be increased but what is the true size that this business can grow? Boarding for dogs makes sense but unless I am out of touch with this world how many people move their chickens when they leave for vacation?

I am hoping that the Dragon’s Den producers are in this story for the satire and not actually looking at it as a viable business.

The not dumb aspect of this business is they run it right out of their family home. If this mom is just doing something strange for some change and making a good side income while doing something she loves she has my props!
